Sitting quietly on Jalan Ahmad Ibrahim, the Tiger Brewery Tour has a lot more to offer than you’d imagine. Inside, it’s overflowing with booze, great people and fun!
We made our way to the visitor centre upon receiving our stamps and token at the ticketing booth and were greeted by Elli, our bubbly and enthusiastic plant guide.
The tour begins with the history of Tiger Beer through an informative clip and right when we were done, Elli showed off Tiger’s achievements through a display of awards, memorabilia, bottles, porcelain ware, and prints collected over the decades. We were left to marvel at the displays for a while before Elli guided us to the plants.
At the brewery and packaging plants, you are treated to an insider’s look into how your favourite beers are brewed and packaged from the interior balcony. While we wish we could have a closer look at the processes, the ground level is strictly out of bounds for visitors as a measure of quality control. It’s a working factory after all.
At the end of the plant walk, you’d have earned yourself a chance to pull your own Tiger Beer from a tap.
What’s most interesting for us was worth sampling. I never knew what beer tasted like, before it becomes, well... beer.
The later part of the tour saw us sampling (seven types of) beer at the Tiger Tavern and boy were we blown away by the extensive décor and kick-ass interior. Housing a posh bar counter, dart station, pool table and seats sufficient for four football teams, the tavern was right is all the feels. We bid goodbye to Elli after what seemed like our fifteen round of beer. Burp.
The entire tour lasted for about an hour and a half and considering the free flow sampling at the Tavern, we think it was $18 well spent.
